Fern’s Brain Surgery Recovery

Fern’s Dad and I have set this up on their behalf…

As some of you may know, Fern has had all kinds of health issues with various, if any, diagnoses which have plagued them for years. These symptoms got really bad the past few weeks. After going to the ER in Inverness where they live on Friday on March 28th (assuming they would be sent home without answers yet again), a CT scan revealed a grape-sized brain tumor/cyst that was blocking the flow of spinal fluid around the brain. Too windy for a helicopter, they transferred Fern to a hospital about three hours away in Aberdeen where they have a neurosurgical unit via ambulance.

Corbett and I immediately caught flights and arrived on Sunday, March 30. The surgery was the next day and lasted about 5 hours. They had to make an incision almost from ear to ear across the top of the head and remove a part of their scull-cap and go between the left and right hemispheres of the brain to reach it. But! When they got to it, it popped right out.

Fern was awake, talking, and very happy about the outcome right away. The surgeon is confident this will take care of many if not all of the issues Fern has been dealing with for the last TEN years!! This kind of colloid cyst is very rare brain tumor, occurring in about three people per million and hard to diagnose. The doctors alluded to the fact that a cyst this size could easily have taken Fern’s life.

We are so relieved and praising God for this outcome. Please send all love, light, and prayers for a full complete healing. We’re back at home in Inverness now. Corbett and I plan to fly back to the states on Wednesday.
