Hi, I'm Micaela Vargas and he is my father, Fernando Vargas. He is noble, funny, altruistic and has a will of steel. He is 56 years old and unfortunately earlier this year his health began to deteriorate.

After several weeks and numerous tests, they found a cancerous tumor in his pancreas. Because of this, the doctor had to perform a surgical procedure called the Whipple procedure, but when they opened him up, the doctor realized that the tumor was large, close to a vein, and, according to him, impossible to remove. We tried to go to the best surgeons and oncologists in Bolivia, but they all told us that nothing else could be done. We know that the field of medicine in Bolivia is not very good. There they gave us hope and indicated that in Bolivia they had given us the wrong diagnosis. Instead of pancreatic cancer, my father has bile duct cancer, and he could possibly become operable after treatment.

Until now, we have managed to pay all the medical expenses by selling various belongings and receiving some help, but we no longer have enough resources to continue paying for the treatment, so we come to you for your help.

Some of the treatment costs so far include $1,800 per chemotherapy session, almost $8,000 for radiotherapy, in addition to the cost of all the medications and, if all goes well, the immense cost of the operation. But, to give my dad the best chance of survival, we are currently exploring the possibility of taking him to the US, where there are oncologists with more practice, more comprehensive treatments, and much more experienced surgeons, but the costs there are even higher. We managed to talk to hospitals where they indicated that medical expenses can range from $100,000 to $500,000. We are in the process of selling our house to raise funds, but it still wouldn't be enough. We want to do everything we can to give him the best possible treatment and the best chance of winning the battle against cancer, and we'd love your help.

Hola soy Micaela Vargas y el es mi papa, Fernando Vargas. Es noble, gracioso, altruista y tiene una voluntad de acero. Tiene 56 años y, lamentablemente, a principios de este año, su salud comenzó a decaer.

Después de varias semanas y numerosas pruebas, encontraron un tumor canceroso en su páncreas. Debido a esto, el médico tuvo que realizar un procedimiento quirúrgico llamado procedimiento de Whipple, pero cuando lo abrieron, se dio cuenta de que el tumor era grande, estaba cerca de una vena y, según él, era imposible de extirpar. Tratamos de acudir a los mejores cirujanos y oncólogos de Bolivia, pero todos nos dijeron que no se podía hacer nada más. Sabemos que el campo de la medicina en Bolivia no es muy bueno. En lugar de cáncer de páncreas, mi padre tiene cáncer Tumor maligno de las vías biliares extrahepaticas, y posiblemente podría volverse operable después de tratamiento.

Hasta ahora hemos logrado pagar todos los gastos médicos vendiendo varias cosas, y recibiendo ayuda, pero ya no tenemos suficientes recursos para seguir pagando el tratamiento, por lo que acudimos a ustedes por su ayuda.

Algunos de los costos de tratamiento hasta el momento incluyen $1,800 por quimioterapia, casi $8,000 por radioterapias, el costo de medicamentos y si todo sale bien el costo inmenso de la operación. Pero, para darle a mi papá la mejor oportunidad de supervivencia, actualmente estamos explorando la posibilidad de llevarlo a los EE. UU. donde hay oncólogos con más práctica, tratamientos más completos y cirujanos mucho más experimentados, pero los costos allí son aún más altos. Logramos hablar con los hospitales donde los gastos médicos pueden oscilar entre $100 000 y $500 000. Estamos en proceso de vender nuestra casa para recaudar fondos, pero aún así no sería suficiente. Queremos hacer todo lo posible para brindarle el mejor tratamiento posible y la mejor oportunidad de ganar la batalla contra el cáncer, y nos encantaría su ayuda.
