Remembering Fernando "Pelon"

In the early hours of Saturday, July 23, 2022, Fernando (who was only 21) was riding home with his best friend; it was a typical ride home; Fernando sat in the passenger seat scrolling through his phone as his friend drove. The friend took a tricky curve in the road too quickly, and they ran through the barrier. Barreling down a steep ravine and landing on the train tracks.

Fernando received severe trauma to his head and was in an induced coma; a week after his accident, Fernando succumbed to his injuries. His departure has left his family heartbroken; he was too young a soul to go.

I am reaching out to our community in the hopes that you can help his mother with the hospital costs as well as his memorial and funeral. Unfortunately, we do not have a date for his memorial and will continue to update as we know more information.

I'd never met a stronger person than my little cousin Fernando. From the beginning, he was a fighter. He was born with an illness that threatened to take him at an early age, but the bodily strength that the universe had taken from Fer was returned in double the resilience.

His mother's sweet smile was something Fernando wore proudly, regardless of the blows life dealt him. He was kind, comedic, cheerful and strong-willed. He was a force to be reckoned with. We miss his rambunctiousness already.
