Fern Dogg, our mystery girl, was attempting to cross the road on September 9, 2022 when she was struck by a vehicle. The driver didn’t stop to help her after the accident, but thankfully, others in the community stepped up. Ms. Dogg had no collar and has not been chipped; she had no one to look after her. Fern’s hip is broken in three places, and she will need a lot of rest and expensive surgery to recover. My friend has graciously volunteered to be financially responsible for our mystery dog, but the vet bills are starting to pile up. She has already spent over $700 on care and supplies and has been quoted over $8,000 for Ms. Dogg’s surgery. These costs are unexpected for my friend’s family.
