The handsome man you see featured above is named Ferdinand! He's a rescued 6-year-old Pit mix who, unfortunately, has a tumor that's growing on his lower eyelid. Because of a lack of available appointments, and the growth not being considered an "emergency", it took me nearly 3 months to get him in to see the vet. In those 3 months, the tumor practically quadrupled in size.

 

 

On 2/3/22, the vet finally had an opportunity to assess his eye and gave me an estimate (which they absolutely butchered his name on).

 

 

Because the tumor's so large now, it's going to cost $1,940+ to have the tumor removed and biopsied to ensure it's not cancerous. I'm afraid that if I wait any longer not only will it cost even more, but that the tumor will begin to severely impact Ferdinand's overall health and well-being (especially if it's not benign). His eye has been weeping for the past three weeks and he's clearly uncomfortable. It breaks my heart to know that there's nothing I can do for him other than to ensure he gets the surgery he needs to have the tumor removed.

 

 

I don't make a lot of money and the prospect of coming up with $1,940+ on my own in a matter of weeks is daunting. I started setting aside money back in December, it's just unfortunately nowhere near enough. But I'll give up everything to ensure that Ferdinand is taken care of and back to his derpy self.
