Who We Are
We are Purrfect Pals, a group of five students at The University of Tennessee who have partnered with Feral Feline Friends of East Tennessee, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to humanely reducing the outside cat population in the Knoxville area through adoption. With your help, we can provide these cats with the care they need and the love they deserve.
East Tennessee, like many areas, is facing a significant issue when it comes to stray and feral cat populations. Feral Feline Friends' mission since 2004 has been to protect the welfare of cats and to promote the humane treatment and well-being of these animals by providing necessary medical care, including spay and neuter treatment, which they have been able to do for hundreds of cats since their founding.
What We Need
In order to help support the cats at Feral Feline Friends, we are seeking financial contributions for our goal of raising $1,600. It costs $80 to spay or neuter each cat and with this amount, 20 cats will be able to have the treatment they need. Feral cats are treated by a process called TNR (trap-neuter-release). Tame cats, however, are brought in to be adopted.
An average stray cat will have up to 1-4 litters a year, which have on average 5-6 kittens, thus $1,600 could reduce the stray/feral cat population by up to 480 cats per year! With your help, these sweet animals will have better access to the care they need before they are adopted or humanely released back to their original location.
How It Helps
Feral Feline Friends are always prepared to take in feral cats from the Knoxville area. This nonprofit not only allows the cats to get medical care, but it also reduces hundreds of strays in the wild, which is safer for both the cat and human population. TNR is the most humane way of reducing the feral cat population, and with an average of 1.4 million cats being euthanized a year, it provides a more sustainable and less cruel process of managing the issue.
How Else You Can Help
If you cannot donate to our campaign, that is okay, but if this is a cause that you still want to support, it would be greatly appreciated if you could share this GoFundMe page with others. Feral Feline Friends are always in need of cat food and kitten formula. Luckily, they have an Amazon wishlist where you can purchase the items that the organization needs. You can also get involved with this organization by volunteering, adopting, or attending a Feral Feline Friends event.
