Feral Cats Western New York
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ann Bukata, and I am raising funds to contribute to the cost of helping feral cats in the western NY community.
I am currently helping out a neighborhood that has an uncontrolled colony of feral cats and kittens. I make appointments with local vets that will spay/neuter feral cats and kittens. After these appointments are set up, I trap the cats the night before so that the adult ferals are held for a minimal time. They get spayed/neutered the next day. Females are crated for two days recovery and the males for one day. If they are deemed friendly, they will go to a local organization to be adopted into a loving home. Most of the time, they are not very friendly to humans and must be returned home, but they will no longer be burdened with caring for kittens. Kittens under four months old are taken from the colony, socialized, and surrendered to a local organization to be adopted into a loving home. Most of the time, organizations REQUIRE SURRENDER DONATIONS to help with the cost of care for the animals.
Helping feral cats is a concern to me as I, of course, love cats, but also all animals. Cats are not indigenous to North America; they are NOT meant to live outside, and people created this problem by dumping/abandoning cats outdoors unspayed and unneutered. Living outside is no life of quality for cats; they suffer greatly and consequently live shortened lives.
The funds will be used to pay for their vaccines, spay, neuter, medicines, transportation, fostering, food, etc. I will also help fund other trappers and non for profit organizations that help care for cats and animals once I am finished with the current colony I am helping. I am currently fostering five feral kittens that require time and attention. Kittens are fostered for at least a month and a half before they are ready to be adopted. Another volunteer fosters four kittens; this totals nine kittens that will live a much better life indoors with more to trap and help every week. Two adult mommas have been spayed and returned home, and more adults must be trapped and spayed/neutered to get this colony under control.
Please donate to help feral cats. Thank you very much!
