My name is Frankie Holmes. I'm seeking money to film my senior thesis project and most ambitious short film yet, Femur.

Femur was the idea of Bry Hopkins, a good friend of mine from northern Wisconsin who formulated the concept while at her job. A tender story of isolation in a post apocalyptic world, that's a uniquely human story that strays away from traditional zombie film cliches. With a focus instead on the plight of the survivors and the relationships they form. When Bry originally told me the concept of the film, I knew I had to get onboard the project. So now the pair of us have co-written and prepared a script together, that we're eager to share with the world.

As Midwest film makers, there's a certain style that myself and Bry aim to strive for in this film. A certain feel that only a northern snowy forest, or cozy hunting cabin could produce. And we wish to combine that aesthetic with a type of undead survivalist film we both know and love.

Synopsis:

The bulk of the film centers around a young medical student named Albert that attempts to keep himself alive in this unforgiving world. Isolated in a frozen cabin in northern Wisconsin, Albert lost his father long ago and now survives alone. Freezing temperatures, starvation, and undead monsters are all things he learned to deal with or avoid in the woods. But now, right on the verge of his breaking point he's shocked to find two separate strangers have arrived to his property. One of the strangers being charming and strange while the other is an unseen monster. Albert is pushed far beyond his limit as he grapples with his humanity attempting to figure out what he'll do with these new mysterious guests. All while searching for his purpose in this world that's seemingly moved on to a new state of equilibrium without mankind in the equation.

How the Funds Will be Used:

The biggest things the money will go towards are funds to pay the crew, pay for practical effects, makeup, wardrobe, and building the look of this apocalyptic midwest cabin. Feeding the crew, purchasing food, gas, and all sorts of living expenses for the crew that will be staying in a cabin together for 4-5 days filming the project. As well as purchasing the proper equipment for the shoot, to make things move as smoothly as possible.
