Feminine Hygiene For The Homeless!
Donation protected
As many of you know, the cost for tampons and pads has continued to increase over the last decade, making it harder for people in poverty and the homeless to afford purchasing them. Currently they average about 7$ per box, which is equivalent to a low cost meal.
Last month I met a woman named Teresa and spent over 15 minutes talking with her near Sugar House Park. She happened to be on her period and after listening to her explain her discomfort, I went to the nearest store to buy her a pack of tampons. She had been using wades of paper napkins to keep the blood from staining her pants because she can't afford new ones. I became outraged with the fact that she has to decide between a meal and feeling comfortable. I decided we should do something about it.
I am trying to raise 5,000$ in order to purchase a years worth of tampons and pads in bulk as well as underwear in sizes (XS-XXL). I then intend to hand out all of the boxes to homeless women throughout the state of Utah with the help of local shelters. Any boxes not handed out by myself and my peers will be donated to the women's shelters across the state. Please donate to help women feel more comfortable during the most uncomfortable time of the month!
Those who donate 200$ or more will get two tickets to an exclusive film premier at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival this Janurary!!! Air fare and accommodations are not included. (Film options will vary)
