Hi, my name is Felicia. Up until April 26th of 2025, I was working two full-time jobs to make ends meet. For my second job, I was a full-time Uber driver, utilizing their car rental program which allowed me to rent a vehicle and pay for it with the money I earned from the rides I had given.
I had been driving for Uber for almost 3 years and had completed well over 9,400 rides. While it took all my free time, I truly loved it. Over the years, I met so many kind, nice, interesting, funny, and personable people. I loved the interactions and the conversations I held with total strangers. I could write a book about the almost 10,000 people I helped get to their destinations.
Unfortunately, on April 26th of 2025, that all changed. I picked up a passenger who ultimately changed my life forever, and not in a good way. The passenger tried to get me to pull into a dark, deserted, wooded driveway of an abandoned house. When I refused to do so, he wrapped his arm around my neck in a chokehold and began to strangle me.
The statements he made to me while he was choking me told me that he was going to rape and murder me. My immediate thoughts during these minutes were that I did not want my family/authorities searching the woods for my body.
The decisions I made from that moment came from me knowing that I only had a few moments of my life left. I was able to put the car into drive and push the accelerator all the way to the floor while I laid on the horn with my left hand and tried to steer the car with the pressure of my hand on the horn (I had no use of my right arm as he was strangling me).
He managed to make me lose consciousness, and the car must have veered off the road because he loosened his grip, my vision came back, and I was headed straight towards a house. It was then he reached over me and tried gaining control of the steering wheel. I fought over the wheel while running over multiple lawns and just barely avoiding fences, stone walls, and houses in the process.
Break away from my story for a minute to say that this man has been arrested and arraigned in District Court on 7 felony charges. He was ordered held without bail. Shortly thereafter, the Grand Jury indicted him on all 7 of the felony charges, and the case is now being heard by Superior Court in Massachusetts. During the most recent court proceeding, 95 percent of the evidence and testimony has been sealed, so I am not at liberty to discuss anything else about the attack. The attacker is still being held without bail while awaiting his trial.
I can tell you that you can Google “Uber driver assaulted by passenger in Seekonk, Massachusetts,” which will give you access to at least 10 pages of results and multiple news stories and videos from all the different news outlets. However, with the records being sealed right now, I cannot discuss anything else about the evidence/testimony until after the trial.
I can tell you that I spent two weeks in the hospital and another two weeks in outpatient therapy. I am currently in therapy and on a number of medications for anxiety, depression, and PTSD following this horrific, brutal, traumatic, and devastating attack on my life. All while I was simply doing my job, driving a passenger to his destination.
I did absolutely nothing to provoke this attack on me by a total stranger. I was plain and simply living my life, working, and trying to make ends meet and pay the bills. My life has been turned upside down since this incident, and I am just trying to get up on my feet again.
It has been just over 3 months now since this occurred. I have finally returned to my other full-time job, and I am just trying to survive and get back on life’s track. But I really need a lot of help right now.
First, and most importantly, I need to get a car to get back and forth to work. My bills—rent, utilities, medical bills—have been piling up. I am trying my best to do this on my own, but now’s the time that I need to be realistic and realize and admit that I need help right now.
Anything you can afford to help me with to get me back up on my feet will be greatly appreciated. If you cannot afford to help in any way, you can help me by sharing this GoFundMe page with everyone you know.
I thank you for reading, listening, and I thank you in advance for any and all help you can give. God didn’t let me die that night, so apparently, I am still here for a reason.
I know some people do not like using GoFundMe. I also have Venmo and MetaPay through Facebook if that helps you help me.
I expect to have this fundraiser up for a while, and I will update with pictures and any news when I am able to. Thank you all again. ❤️
