This is my friend Fellie and her three girls.

She came to the UK in 2021 to nurse in hope that she could provide a better life for her family. Fellie works as a palliative care nurse providing end of life care for patients in their own homes.

The plan was that she would come first and her husband would follow with the children once she was settled and had somewhere to live and found a job, schools for the girls, a GP etc.

Unfortunately her husband contracted covid and passed away (boxing day) at the age of 40 he never stepped foot on British ground.

Fellie and her girls live in Leeds in a rented small terrace house, she works full time and more to provide for them.

In July 2026 Fellie has to pay over £3k for ILR to remain in the UK, this year she had to fly back to Zimbabwe as her elderly mum fell and fractured her hip and had a TIA, Fellie had to use her savings to pay for this.

Unfortunately her work place cannot sponsor her.

The cost of living is so high, she will be never be able to save that amount in 7 months with three girls to provide for. Her rent alone is more than half her wage, her family in Zimbabwe are not able to help her.
