Me parece mentira que ya mi niño va a cumplir 17 añitos.

Mi Christiancito, mi pedazo de sol, mi vida, mi salvación, mi eterno compañero… ya está creciendo. Y aunque uno quisiera que siempre fueran nuestros bebés, también nos toca aceptar la realidad y demostrar el verdadero amor. Para mí, una de las mayores expresiones de amor como madre es aprender a soltar.

Tengo la tranquilidad de sentir que he hecho un buen papel como mamá, y confío mucho en él: en sus decisiones, en su criterio y en su forma de ver la vida. Por eso, juntos hemos decidido que ya es hora de que empiece a manejar… y para eso necesita su primer carrito.

Muchos amigos, familiares y personas queridas que nos aprecian mucho me han llamado para preguntarme qué le gustaría a Christian para su cumpleaños. Yo siempre digo que los tiempos no están para tantos regalos, y que el regalo más bonito es poder celebrar juntos, en familia y con amigos.

Pero como es una etapa que tarde o temprano llega, él mismo tuvo una idea muy linda: que quienes deseen hacerle un regalito puedan aportar a una pequeña recolecta para ayudarlo con su primer carro.

Dice él, muy convencido, que si 1000 personas aportan $5 serían $5000, y que según él yo tengo más de 1000 personas que me quieren mucho… y por defecto, a él también. ¿Qué les parece la idea? EL niño si que es creativo!

It’s hard to believe that my baby is already turning 17 years old.

My little Christian, my piece of sunshine, my life, my salvation, my eternal companion… is growing up. And as much as we wish they could stay our babies forever, we also have to face reality and show true love. For me, one of the greatest expressions of love as a mother is learning to let go.

I feel at peace knowing that I’ve done a good job as a mother, and I trust him deeply—his decisions, his judgment, and the way he sees and approaches life. Because of that, we’ve decided together that it’s time for him to start driving… and for that, he needs his first car.

Many friends, family members, and loved ones who care about us have been calling to ask what Christian would like for his birthday. I always say that these times are not really about giving so many gifts, and that the most valuable gift is celebrating together with family and friends.

But since this is a moment that eventually comes, he had a very sweet idea: that anyone who would like to give him a little birthday gift could contribute to a small collection to help him buy his first car.

He says that if 1,000 people give $5, that’s $5,000, and according to him I have more than 1,000 people who love me… and by default, love him too. What do you think? He sure is a very creative Kiddo!!
