Hi! My partner and I saved Felix in September 2024.
At nights, we feed the local stray cats and Felix came up to us for the first time. He was extremely cuddly and just wanted pets. We can tell instantly he was sick and wouldn't last longer in the streets. He was skin & bones with so much dirt on his fur we couldn't tell what the color of his fur was at first.
At the vet, he was very dehydrated, malnourished & underweight. The vet also diagnosed him with a severe case of gingivitis and stomatitis. Due to this, he had a very tough infection and needed to be on several medications along with partial tooth extractions.
The surgery and medications costed us around $1,600 dollars. We were told after the surgery, rounds of antibiotics and steroids, he would begin to feel better. Sadly, he was one of the rare cases that did not improve.
Without constant steroid use, he is in constant and extreme pain, he stops eating and playing all together. The inflammation of his gums causes him to wheeze constantly and makes it difficult to breathe. We cannot get prescribed anymore without doing labs that cost around $300. The vets that we go to say that since he is not improving, we need to extract the rest of his teeth which will cost more. The fangs of cats are usually more expensive. We used up all of our savings and are in heavy financial strain due to this surgery. Without this surgery, multiple vets have recommended euthanasia. What will help him live a life without pain is this crucial surgery.
He has so much fighting spirit. He has learned how to play with cat toys, loves playing with his feline sisters and cuddling up to us. Please help us save our baby, any amount really helps.
