To our beloved family, friends, and extended community,
As many of you know, Our beloved 5-year-old dog Felix suffered a sudden health collapse on Friday, May 29th. He spent 4 days in the animal hospital. Through quick action and excellent care at Angell Medical Center, Felix was able to come home to us.
Unfortunately, we have learned that he has Stage 5 Lymphoma.
There is no cure, and it is no longer possible for us to hold our planned vision of another decade of life together. Without treatment, Felix will pass within days or weeks. With chemotherapy, the prognosis is 2-18 months, with 6-9 months being the most likely. His quality of life while on treatment has a good chance of being high - on chemo, dogs with lymphoma often have no symptoms and get back to normal for some time.
We’re accepting financial support to help pay for the existing vet bills and deal with the additional costs we anticipate over the next weeks and months. We are thinking of these as "love tokens" for Felix, as our family friend Josephine would say. If you have some abundance in your financial resources, we’d be grateful for your support.
We deeply appreciate the ways in which loved ones have already supported us, from helping us organize his meds, to making sure we are all eating. We are so grateful for the community of care we have surrounding us. And thank you so much to all the "uncles" who have loved and cared for Felix these past years.
We are being given the chance to have one last great summer with him, and we want to take that opportunity so long as his quality of life remains high. Thanks for your support!
