Felix Martinez Fundraiser

Hi, my name is Krystal Martinez.

In March 2022, my dad began feeling sick. He was dizzy, off-balanced, not eating well, and had a fever for a few days. He sought medical attention immediately and started the long journey of medical tests and appointments. A lumbar puncture exam revealed lesions in his spine, and an MRI showed a malignant mass on the back of his head near the cerebellum.

In May 2022, my dad underwent brain surgery to remove the mass. It was suspected to be Lymphoma, but one of his doctors prescribed him steroids, killing it before they could test the mass for the type of cancer. The doctors told us that it would likely return, and we would have to wait for it to return to receive an official diagnosis. Life for my family is currently an unpredictable cycle of medical appointments, testing, and fear whenever one of his symptoms returns.

Since this began, our family has been struggling emotionally and financially as we deal with my dad's sickness and many unknowns. Due to his sickness, my dad was unable to work for six months, and since he is the main financial provider for my family of 5, this has left us with a tremendous financial burden. As the medical bills have piled up, we are left with no answers and financial stress.

As his youngest, it has been especially difficult for me to be away from my family during this time as I'm in New York for college, and traveling home is financially difficult.

I started this fund to hopefully help my family pay for the medical bills that have come unexpectedly and ease some of my family's stress.
