Who We Are: We are the Konotey-Ahulu family, organizing this memorial fund to further the work of our father, the late Professor Felix Konotey Ahulu MD FRCP
Where We're From: Our family British Ghanaian; we are based in the United Kingdom, although our father's pioneering work spanned Ghana, the UK, and internationally.
Beneficiary Organizations: Funds raised will support established sickle cell organizations in the UK and in Ghana including individuals suffering from Sickle Cell Disease
- Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Ghana Institute Of Clinical Genetics (Sickle Cell Clinic)
- The Sickle Cell Society (London, UK)
- Sickle Cell Disease Association of America (Baltimore, Maryland, USA)
These organizations were selected because they align with our father's life's work and continue the research and patient care he was passionate about.
How Funds Will Be Used: Donations will be directed toward:
- Sickle cell disease research and clinical trials
- Patient support services and education programs
- Medical equipment and resources for treatment centres
- Educational initiatives about sickle cell disease
Fund Distribution: As the organizer and daughter of Professor Konotey-Ahulu, I will personally ensure all donations are distributed directly to the chosen organizations within 30 days of the campaign's conclusion. We will make available full transparency, names of recipient organisations and receipts of all donations made.
