Hi, my name is Robyn (she/her) and I’m a transgender woman from the UK.

My partner, Felicity (she/they), is also transgender and she is currently struggling to put any money towards saving for gender affirming surgeries. She is currently unemployed, and struggling to find work - as such, finances are limited for her.

As her partner, and a transgender woman myself, I know how important access to gender affirming care is. Without it, we can feel ashamed, embarrassed, dysphoric, and hate parts of our body that we had no choice over having. This can hold us back in living our lives, from things like going to the shops and simply being visible, doing job interviews, socialising, dealing with intimacy, and just generally trying to live our lives without harassment. It can also really hold back our ability to obtain work, and be treated as the people we are in those roles.

NHS wait times in the UK are absurdly long; currently at approximately 5-7 years before a first appointment is given, and even then, in terms of surgery you would then be placed on a further waiting list. NHS surgical options are limited to top (chest) and bottom (genital) surgery. Needless to say, the NHS cannot be relied upon for the vital treatments that transgender people need.

Felicity has been on hormones for a few years now, and is fully socially transitioned, however she is held back by financial constraints and wishes for her life and transition to move forward. She has a number of plans for her transition, with the first few being (including costing estimates);

Rhinoplasty - £5k

Vocal Feminisation Surgery - £5k

Facial Feminisation Surgery - £10-20k

Hair Transplant £5-10k

Any and all amounts given will go directly towards helping Felicity to fund these procedures, some of which may take place overseas (meaning funds may go towards travelling as needed). No money will be used for any other purpose other than Felicity’s medical transition. If the fundraiser happens to raise more than is needed, then a suitable charity donation will be made, or funds will be donated to other relevant transgender fundraisers within the community.
