A few weeks ago, our beloved friend Ben suffered a serious accident while on the job. Ben was climbing a ladder and carrying a window when he fell more than 15 feet. He doesn’t remember the fall.

Ben’s injuries are extensive. He broke his femur, pelvis, wrist, and several ribs, and he punctured a lung. He has already undergone two major surgeries and has a long road of rehabilitation ahead of him. He spent his 48th birthday in the ICU. He is now receiving care at Mary Free Bed, where he's beginning the slow and difficult process of regaining mobility and independence.

Ben is more than a man who had a terrible accident. He is a devoted husband to Lorena, a loving father to 8-year-old Benny, and a lifelong friend. He’s the kind of person who lights up every room he walks into. He’s active, upbeat, and fiercely committed to his family.

As an independent contractor, Ben isn’t eligible for workers’ compensation. There is no disability insurance to cover lost income and the medical bills will be extensive. That’s why we’re asking for your help.
