Brothers helping Brothers
Hi! This is us with our brother Robby(he’s in the middle). He’s a 35-year-old karate and gymnastics teacher who works with children and has been doing so for the past 20 years. Robby is funny, kind, generous, and a gift to this world.
At age five, he was diagnosed with advanced acute leukemia. Two times his cancer returned and he received a bone marrow transplant at Stanford which eradicated his leukemia. He was given a 10% chance to live to age 10, and he beat those odds.
Despite those odds, Robby persevered and has had a fulfilling life with the occasional bump along the way. To this day, Robby is the same mac n’ cheese-loving, ninja turtle shirt-wearing guy he has always been.
Being a childhood cancer survivor is absolutely incredible, but many of his childhood friends are no longer with us. The harsh chemicals and treatment used to save the lives of childhood cancer survivors cause many, many lifelong issues. Robby has heart issues, muscular issues, bone problems, and has had secondary cancers caused by the chemo and radiation that saved his life. He is one tough MF, and is our hero every day.
Within the past year, Robby has been hospitalized twice and has had many procedures to prevent another secondary cancer. Doctors are now recommending a drastic procedure to save his life. In October, Robby will have his entire large intestine removed.
We ask for your help to pay for his hospitalizations, upcoming surgery and future medical expenses in any amount you can. He’s missed out on work, and the bills continue to pile up, with more expected in the future. Robby deserves to continue on and live his life to the fullest.
Robby has been and continues to be an inspiration for us and we hope his story inspires you to help in any capacity you can.
