Help FeFe Beat Leukemia

I would like to introduce you to my mother Sandra, better know as FeFe to her grandchildren.  She is a beautiful 69 year old angel with a heart of gold.  She worked hard raising 3 caring children while juggling 3 jobs in order to make sure we always had what we needed.  Once we were old enough she decided to put herself through college in order to better herself.  She studied early childhood education and after graduation, she was a kindergarten teacher for 30 years.  She cared for each an every one of her kids that came through her classroom like they were one of her own.  After retiring, FeFe has spent the last few years caring for her mother and enjoying time with her 4 granddaughters.  

On Christmas Eve of 2020, FeFe was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia four days after her birthday.  Unable to get the appropriate treatment in her hometown, she was airlifted to Dallas and admitted into the hospital.  After six weeks of difficult chemo treatments, blood transfusions, and nausea she was released to come stay with me and attempt to regain her health. 
She has worked hard and dedicated herself to doing whatever it takes to be strong enough to get back to doing the things she loves.  Two weeks after being released, she had to start an immunotherapy treatment due to traces of the cancer in her blood.  These treatments are some of the highest priced treatments for leukemia, but it was the only option.  After three 28 day cycles of this medicine, the doctor informed us that due to her age, the treatment results would be limited.  


The doctor then informed us that we need to start trying to find a bone marrow match in order to get the transplant process started.  All her siblings were tested, but no luck, and time is our enemy due to her age and the intensity of a transplant.  Fortunately, God blessed us with a match that was found in Germany.  As she prepares for the most difficult moments of her life, she wakes up every morning and enjoys every day to the fullest.  She is in great spirits and will not let anything keep her down.  She is stubborn and does not like to accept any handouts, she never has and never will, and that is why I am putting this together.  

I am heartbroken watching her open hospital bills every day, instead of focusing on being active and enjoying her time in the garden or seeing places she has never seen before.  She is very fortunate compared to some people who are dealing with issues like this, because she does have insurance.  The insurance helps a good bit, but she still gets bills over $1000+ every other day.  We are working through it and we will do what it takes with or without help, but I wanted to do what I could in order to make each of her days as easy for her as possible.  
Fefe does not talk about her disease and pains because she thinks that everyone else has their own problems and they should not worry about her. She also does not know about this initiative and would feel terrible, and probably would want it taken down if she knew about it.  
We appreciate anybody willing to donate anything to one of the most caring, genuine, and exceptional woman ever to walk this Earth.  Someone who has spent their entire life giving and never asking for anything in return.  She deserves to have a chance to continue to make this world a better place and not have to worry so much about what bill will come tomorrow.  

I would personally like to thank each and every one of you who spent a little time reading mom's story, I just wish everybody had a chance to spend 10 minutes with her.  You would truly understand how wonderful of a daughter, mother, teacher, caregiver, and friend FeFe is.  When the time is right, I will let her know everybody that reached out and showed how important she is.  God Bless!
