Feeling Helpless with Medical Bills

Hello guys. I have a situation I need some help with. On Feb 23rd I was in a car accident. I was by myself, lost control of my van, and hit a telephone pole off the highway at about 55mph. My engine was ejected 65 feet and the back hatch landed in front of the van.  I have no health insurance.  I had recently lost my job, and with it the possibility of good health insurance. My wife is a teacher with insurance, but to add the family would have been a ridiculous amount more. My son is covered my medical card, but I was relying on landing a job with benefits.  I suffered multiple injuries including a broken back, ankle, and foot. I was then taken to the nearest hospital's emergency room and evaluated. Thinking I could have suffered head trauma they sent me to another, larger hospital two hours away.  While there I received the works. All the x-rays, CT scans etc. My ankle and back would heal on their own, but my foot required surgeries.  The first surgery was the placement of an external fixator to hold my bones close together. Those came out and I will have yet another surgery to fuse the bones together   I stayed in the hospital for days. What should have been the last day was thwarted by the absence of a "sliding board"  which is a device that is supposed to help you transfer.  I stayed another night while they had dropped the ball considering my sliding board. They were supposed to have it, but by the time I found out it wasnt coming, all the associates involved in the process had already left for the day.  I haven't used the board once since I have been home for 6 weeks   With all these surgeries and days/nights spent in hospital, I have been hit with over $75,000 worth of bills already, and I haven't even begun with Orthopedics   I'm scared.  I have a wife and child of my own, and we recently have taken a foster child in. I have not been working since January. I was looking for a job, talking with an old General Manager about a new opportunity that would have included medical  benefits.  I was in the process of being hired for this job when this accident tore my life apart.  I dont know what to do, and never considered a means such as this to help, but I fear that the system will ruin our lives if we have to live under this financial torrent.
