Presleigh has had trouble eating since birth. We went to Piedmont ER three times in Columbus, and no one helped much. They gave her an IV and sent her home! Presleigh would aspirate almost everything she would drink. The swallow study showed that even when she would drink just a couple swallows, she would aspirate - so when she was trying to drink an ounce or two, it would fill up her lungs and cause her to choke. It got to the point where Presleigh refused to eat at all, so we decided to drive to Atlanta and go to a children’s hospital. She was admitted immediately, and we stayed for 4 1/2 days. She had tests run and now has a feeding tube. She will have a feeding tube for a minimum of 2 months. They said it could be a lot longer; they really don’t know yet! She will have feeding therapy weekly and more tests done to see if she can swallow correctly throughout her treatment. Her supplier company will send all her supplies and milk to our house monthly!
