Help donate iftar meals to frontline Healthcare Workers in Hospitals fighting COVID-19 in Bangladesh

On March 30th, my friends and I launched a fundraiser to feed hourly workers from Narayanganj. Within 28 days, 650 people who had lost their jobs received groceries  to last them for the month of Ramadan.

The success of the food drive inspired me to reach out to a survivor of the coronavirus in Bangladesh. My friend, Tashfia Zaman, witnessed a first-hand view into the lives of the doctors in the hospital she was diagnosed in. The response from her was heartbreaking.

As the hospitals in Bangladesh reacted to the COVID-19 blow, administrations and internal operations took a big hit. Resulting in less time to plan and take care of the very doctors who are helping keep up the fight against the virus itself.

50,000 doctors in Bangladesh are fighting the coronavirus right now. Extensive hours, continued service and reduced time from their families negatively impacting their mental well-being and increasing their stress levels on the job; as they held up our front lines, going entire days without adequate meals.

While our frontline heroes remain committed to keeping us safe, can we take $20 from our pockets to feed them for two weeks?

At $2 a box, your contribution of $20 can feed one meal to 10 hungry healthcare workers for one shift. With the food packages, we also plan to include notes of motivation and public health messaging for our heroes, letting them know that we are standing beside them all the way. We will start with Dhaka Medical College & Hospital first and then increase based on the response to this fundraiser.

Dhaka Medical College and Hospital was recognized as one of the primary COVID-19 testing facilities in Bangladesh. The hospital is known for treating some of the highest number of patients in the country.  The essence of Ramadan requires us to step up and stand by our communities and those fighting for it, especially in the most difficult of times - our plan is to ensure that not a single worker goes hungry during this month.
