As the sweet air of Ramadan begins to waft through the streets of Oxford, OUISoc opens its Ramadan Appeal 2026, welcoming a month filled with the grace of اللّٰهُ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ.
This Ramadan, OUISoc aims to continue hosting free daily Iftars for Oxford students, staff, and members of the community. With a larger proportion of Ramadan now falling during termtime, alongside the rising costs that come with inflation year on year, the challenge to support everyone with open arms becomes all the more difficult. Yet the need, and beauty, of gathering remains unwavering.
100% of your donation received by OUISoc will be used for Ramadan-related costs, from every drop of fuel needed to transport food, to every spoon that feeds the fasting.
مَنْ فَطَّرَ صَائِمًا كَانَ لَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِهِمْ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَنْقُصَ مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْئًا
“Whoever gives food for a fasting person to break his fast, he will have a reward like theirs, without that detracting from their reward in the slightest.”
[Sunan al-Tirmidhī 807, Sahih]
A profound feeling exists amongst the cloudiness of it all, a feeling of unity and peace. A feeling that no matter how busy our lives become, we always make time for the things that matter; the small moments of duʿāʾ, the transient moment of peace during sujūd. The clearing of all worries, thoughts, and anxieties that fade from your mind, even for a moment, so we can truly appreciate the blessings bestowed upon us, amongst our brothers and sisters in Islam.
جَزَاكَ ٱللَّٰهُ خَيْرًا
