My name is Laura Gasparis Vonfrolio (www.greatnurses.com) and I have been a nurse for over 50 years, advocating for our profession. I admire and am proud of the nurses of Montefiore, New York Presbyterian, and Mount Sinai Hospitals (10 locations) for standing up/striking for nurse-patient ratios in order to provide safe patient care. When a nurse has too many patients to care for, complications develop, subtle patient signs/symptoms are missed, and patient mortality increases. These nurses are striking, outside during freezing weather, without any income in order to make a statement and to ensure safe staffing ratios. They also want a safe environment to practice nursing and secure health benefits.
Please help me to feed them while they are on the picket line. The cost of one food truck is $3,000 per day, which includes insurance and rental fees, and will provide sandwiches for 150 nurses. We need 10 food trucks to cover the 10 locations where over 15,000 nurses are picketing.
Any amount will help to make this happen. The nurses will appreciate your support. All money, every penny, will go to the nurses on the picket lines. Help me to help them. Thank you for caring for our heroes!
