My family and I are creating this GoFundMe to help feed families facing severe hunger in Afghanistan. Last Ramadan, with the incredible support of our community, we raised over $11,700 USD and were able to provide food packages to around 350 families in small villages. We are deeply grateful for everyone who contributed and helped make that possible.
This year, we hope to continue these efforts and support even more families in need inshallah.
Donations are Zakat eligible and can be counted toward your annual Zakat.
According to international humanitarian organizations, Afghanistan remains in the midst of one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises. Today more than half the population of people is facing severe food insecurity and struggling to meet their most basic needs.
The situation has become even more difficult due to the recent conflict and tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, which have further disrupted supply routes, trade, and economic stability in the region. As a result, the prices of basic food items continue to change frequently and increase almost daily, making it even harder for families to afford essential supplies.
During the holy month of Ramadan, the need becomes especially urgent, as many families fast all day without knowing if they will have enough food to break their fast.
This year, we hope to continue our efforts by providing essential food packages to help struggling families sustain their households.
Each package aims to feed a small family and will include:
50kg Bag of flour → $1500-1600 AFN
7kg of Sugar → $370 AFN
7kg of Beans → $850 AFN
10L of Oil → $1200 AFN
Each package costs approximately $65 USD, though prices may vary as market costs continue to fluctuate. My family members living in Afghanistan will purchase the items and help distribute them to the villages that are in most need.
Any contribution, no matter how small, can help a family have food and relief during this difficult time. Your support is a form of sadaqah and can make the difference between hunger and survival.
If you have any thoughts, concerns, ideas or suggestions on how we can further assist this vulnerable population, please feel free to contact me.
