FEED ST. VINCENT

Donation protected

Hi, I’m Rawlston, Chef and Owner of The Food Sermon in Brooklyn, NY, and I need your help!

On April 9, 2021, the people of my homeland, St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), watched as the La Soufriere volcano erupted. It has since erupted 9 times and has blanketed more than ¾ of the island with volcanic ash.

As a result of the falling ash:

  • Breathing has become increasingly difficult, even with masks on.
  •  Approximately 20,000 citizens have been evacuated and relocated to one of 80 government shelters
  • Farmers have lost their entire crops and have had to abandon their livestock - leading to a food crisis.

  • Many of the country’s water supplies have become contaminated - leading to a severe water shortage

The volcano has caused the greatest devastation SVG has seen since 1902; when La Soufriere erupted for 8 months. Scientists have stated that this time, the volcano could continue to erupt for weeks perpetuating water and food shortages.

Many Vincentians, locally and from all over the world, have come together to gather supplies in aid of their affected countrymen.

As a chef, I wanted to help my country in the best way I knew how and that's by feeding people. I reached out directly to the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and was fortunate to have them approve the Feed St.Vincent Initiative.

With your donations, I will launch one or hopefully, multiple community kitchens. I have already secured a location for the one kitchen. We will provide free and nourishing meals for those who need it most. I plan on being on site with a team to cook as much as we can, for as long as we can.

I love St Vincent, it’s my home, It’s where I was born and where I spent my childhood. It’s where my heart lives day and night. Every single dish I’ve created and prepared is thanks to how this island has raised me.

That’s the plan. And I need your help to make it happen!!

To say that there is A LOT going on in the world is an understatement. So any amount would be appreciated, 5 dollars, 10 dollars, really, anything. If donating is not possible I ask that you take a moment to share.

The people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines would be eternally grateful for your contribution.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
