Feed Our Medics - Northern Beaches
Donation protected
We know that our medics at the Northern Beaches Testing Sites are working long hours in risky conditions to help patients fight the highly infectious coronavirus.
These medics have trouble getting to the shops, have bare shelves at supermarkets, and find it a big mental load to order and meal plan so far in advance when they are reading up about how to protect themselves and care for others with this new virus.
They can't just buy from any café and put themselves at risk of community transmission of Covid-19 that they are so hyper-vigilantly avoiding at work. Even if they wanted to, many of the cafés have closed. Many good, selfless staff, are having trouble accessing a good nutritious meal that will support them through these long shifts. And it's only the beginning.
We want to raise money to help feed our health care workers by engaging Covid-food-prep-trained local cafes, restaurants and catering companies who are also seeing hard times.
We are looking to raise funds from our local community so that our medics can get a decent, nutritious meal to help them through their shift.
And who doesn't love a care package, when you've been working on the front line of an unprecedented pandemic?
We have spoken with local covid-food-prep-trained chefs, cooks and caterers, who have advised for $10 a medic we could provide them with a hygienic, healthy, filling meal for their lunch or dinner.
Our first-week goal is to provide a meal to tired medics over the lockdown period in the beaches.
...prepared by a local covid-certified cafe or restaurant, supported by local Northern Beaches locals
Let's try to feed 100 medics!! Let's try to do it for a few weeks, or as long as we can!
Let’s join together to help our health care professionals stay fed so they can continue to help our community fight this virus.
We are concerned citizens who are keen to help support our local health care workers during this pandemic.
