In early 2021 my brother David's life was forever changed having suffered carbon monoxide poisioning on his job. This devastating poisoning occured over an extended period of time while driving a loaner work tractor. Making matters even worse, David has worked for the same company for 24 years and now is off work without pay as they have denied his workman's comp claim. That's a story and fight for another day that I'll be here to navigate for him. I will seek justice and work on changing laws about CO detectors in trucks. My brother has been diagnosed with an acute brain injury and will most likely never return to work. He has a long road ahead of him and needs our help. Anyone who knows David, knows he's not one to ask for help or complain about a thing. Many of his friends may not even know what he's been through or is currently experiencing. He has memory loss, vision loss, fatigue, extreme nausea, hand and leg tremors and balance issues. He recently fell and has a chest contusion from the fall. David is the sole provider of his daughter Johona who is still in high school pictured here with him about the time of the accident. I want to help David get the support he needs to not have to worry so much about just trying to get to a stable place. David has entered treatment at a brain rehab center and will be going to therapy 5 days a week. Because he can no longer safely drive, I drive from Portland to Salem to take him to and from his appointments. Today he is getting fitted with new prism glasses that hopefully will help with some of his nausea at a cost of $989. This is life changing for his whole family but I'm here for him. I'm not one to ask for help either but I want to give my brother what he deserves and not have him worry about how he is going to survive until we fight this in court. I really appreciate your support and would love if his friends could send him a nice message. It's a lonely place to be.
Please share with everyone you know, because every little bit helps. Maybe we can restore a little faith in humanity and help a struggling family through a devastating circumstance beyond their control.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Dave's sister, Channon.
