The Fight for Our Constitutional Rights in Port St. Lucie
My name is Steven Greer, and I am a proud, concerned resident of Port St. Lucie. Like many of you, I value the safety of our community, but I also deeply value the core liberties guaranteed to us by the United States Constitution.
Recently, I took a major stand on behalf of our community by filing a federal lawsuit (Greer v. City of Port St. Lucie) to challenge the unchecked expansion of Flock mass-surveillance cameras in our city. I spoke out at our City Council meeting because I believe this technology raises massive constitutional concerns under the Second and Fourth Amendments, tracking everyday citizens without a warrant or probable cause.
The Real Costs of Fighting Pro Se
I am fighting this battle pro se, meaning I am representing myself. While I am not charging for my time, litigating against a city government in federal court is absolutely not free. The financial burden of fighting the city's legal team is already adding up quickly.
Because the court does not grant electronic filing access to unrepresented citizens, I am forced to physically drive a 60-mile round-trip to the federal courthouse every single time a document needs to be filed or delivered.
Our local community pages on Facebook have exploded with support, with thousands of neighbors asking one critical question: "How can we help?" This fund is the answer.
Where the Funds Will Go
Every single dollar raised by this campaign will go directly toward the heavy costs of sustaining this lawsuit. As we move deeper into the case, the expenses will grow significantly.
Your support will cover:
Depositions and Court Reporting: When we enter the discovery phase, hiring court reporters and paying for official deposition transcripts to question city officials will cost thousands of dollars.
Travel and Transports: Covering the fuel and travel costs for the continuous 60-mile round-trips to the federal court.
Court and Filing Fees: Mandatory administrative, copying, printing, and formal service fees required by the federal court system.
Expert Witnesses: Hiring technology and privacy experts to review the Flock system and testify against the city's surveillance network.
Stand With Me
This isn't just my fight, it's a fight for the privacy, digital freedom, and constitutional rights of every single person who drives through Port St. Lucie. The government has unlimited taxpayer dollars to defend their actions. I only have you.
Whether you can give $5, $50, or simply share this link back into our local Facebook threads, your support shows the city that its citizens demand accountability.
Thank you for standing with me to protect our community’s future.
