Help Save Feast of Fun: Celebrating 20 Years of Podcasting!

It’s hard to believe, but Feast of Fun is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Since its early days, we’ve been proud to be a part of podcasting history, with Apple’s iTunes recognizing us in 2006 as one of 48 pioneering shows that helped take podcasting from an underground movement to a mainstream phenomenon.
At its heart, Feast of Fun has always been a queer pop culture and comedy podcast with a uniquely Chicago flavor. It’s campy, wholesome, and incredibly gay—like sitting in on a hilarious conversation with your favorite friends.
In these 20 years, we've pioneered discussions on:
* Drag culture, long before it was mainstream.
* Bodybuilding culture, long before it dominated Instagram.
* Queer history and icons.
* Pop culture, weird news, and internet oddities.
* Music, nightlife, and indie artists.
* Interviews with drag queens, comedians, LGBTQ+ activists, sex workers, and misfits.
But we didn’t just talk about the culture—we helped shape it. We laid the groundwork for podcasts like Race Chaser and Sibling Rivalry to thrive.
Queer icons and luminaries all got their podcast start on Feast of Fun: RuPaul, George Takei, John Waters, Kathy Griffin, Alaska 5000, Trixie Mattel, Bob the Drag Queen, Matteo Lane, Cameron Esposito. But also Puerto Rican icons like Barbara Herr, Larry La Fountain, Jade Sotomayor, Monica Beverly Hillz, and lots of in-depth looks at the lives and legacies of Ricky Martin, Walter Mercado, and Iris Chacón.
Feast of Fun has always been the DIY queer media we’ve all come to love, before ring lights and public relations teams were the norm.
On a personal note, we’re also incredibly proud that, during our journey, marriage equality became law in the U.S., and I was able to marry my co-host and partner, Marc Felion.
We celebrated this victory in tandem with the challenges we’ve faced—global fascism, the COVID-19 pandemic, losing beloved guests and icons, and even seeing laws passed in some places that make talking about LGBTQ+ issues illegal.
But despite all these obstacles, we have remained a beacon of love, laughter, and community.
Which brings us to today. After 20 years of creating content, we find ourselves in need of help—more than ever before. Our equipment is outdated. The computer we use to record has been with us for over seven years, and our hard drives are either broken or nearly full. On top of that, our website needs significant maintenance in order to continue producing new episodes.
And that’s not all—two episodes of Cooking Drag Queens are currently sitting unfinished, needing color and audio corrections to be released. Thanks to the power of AI, we were able to rescue footage that we thought was lost forever. But there’s still a lot of work to be done—and plenty of video content, some of it never before seen, just waiting to be shared with you.
So, we’re reaching out to you, our extended family, to help us keep this podcast alive. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to upgrade our equipment, maintain the website, and finish these two episodes, which are crucial to the future of our show.
If every listener donated just $1, we’d reach our goal and ensure the future of Feast of Fun for years to come.
Please consider making a one-time donation today. Your contribution will not only help us keep the show going, but also support a podcast that has made a difference in so many people’s lives. From expanding the Rainbow Flag with the Progress and Lesbian Pride Flags, to fostering community through art, culture, and queer joy—we’ve always been about more than just podcasting.
Can you help? We truly appreciate your support and thank you for being part of this journey.
With love and gratitude,
