Fearlessly Fighting for Barbara
At age 37, our sister, Barbara Rutter Sweet, has just been diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer.
Barbara is a mother to four amazing boys: Morley is 6 years old, Collin is 5, Nolan is 2, and Rowan is just 4 months old. Raising her boys is a full time job, and her loving husband, Morley, works extremely hard to provide for his family. Morley will have to take time off work in the coming days and donations will be vital to helping them with expenses.
Recently, Barbara felt some pain in her abdomen and went to her doctor to have it checked out. The last thing she expected was to hear that horrible word we all seem to hear far too often: Cancer. Having received the diagnosis, she was immediately scheduled for a full hysterectomy. When they began the surgery they realized that the cancer had metastasized. They decided not to perform the procedure until after chemotherapy. Going forward, Barbara’s treatment will include chemotherapy, a full hysterectomy, and possibly more surgeries.
Barbara is fighting this with everything she has. While they have the full support of their families, Barbara and Morley currently live in Illinois, Barbara’s treatment is in Wisconsin. Her family lives in New York and Morley’s family is in Ohio. With Morley taking time off, medical expenses, travel expenses, hotel stays, and other unavoidable costs will add up quickly. We’re all doing our best to be there, but financial help would certainly ease some of the burden, and would be a real blessing for them in this battle.
This has hit our family incredibly hard, having lost our dad to pancreatic cancer a few short years ago. We know these are already difficult times for so many. While any help at all is greatly appreciated, even if you can’t afford to contribute, we ask that you please take a moment to share this post. Most importantly, please pray for our sister. Pray for a fighting spirit for this woman who means so much to so many people. They need as much help and prayers as you can spare.
Both the Sweet and Rutter families are so grateful for your well wishes and continued prayers. 2 Timothy 1:7
