As many of you know, Trevor's wife, Allyson, is battling stage IV breast cancer. You probably also know that she is an absolute inspiration. Her strength and poise through this journey is truly admirable. I met with Allyson today and the only tears shed were by me. Allyson is just too strong for that! It wasn't easy for her to ask for help, but she needs it now more than ever.
Recently, she has been experiencing excruciating pain in her hip. She learned her cancer has progressed. There are new lesions appearing on 2 different vertebrae and one on her left hip. The tumors on her lungs keep growing; the largest one being around 5 cm. To treat the lesion on her hip, she is going to get a procedure called cryoablation within the next couple of weeks. It is a treatment to kill cancer cells with extreme cold. During cryoablation, a thin, wand-like needle (cryoprobe) is inserted through the skin and directly into the cancerous tumor. A gas is pumped into the cryoprobe in order to freeze the tissue.
Allyson has done extensive research and has also connected with fellow stage IV breast cancer warriors. She has decided to get treatment at Oasis of Hope in Mexico on July 25th. The type of cancer Allyson has is very aggressive and difficult to treat. Oasis of Hope's long term results in patients with her type of cancer are 2 to 3 times better than those obtained in the US and other countries. This initial treatment lasts 3 weeks and costs $30,000. She will then undergo an at home treatment plan for 12 weeks. After her at home treatment, she will be re-evaluated. The good news is she is young, in good health, and has a warrior's spirit. She is going to do everything in her power to kick cancer's ass! She also has a village of people supporting her. Thank you to everyone who reached out and helped when Allyson underwent her previous treatment.
Trevor and Allyson are very special people to Ethan and I. We want to do everything in our power to help them through this. If you would like to help spread the word, or you have another fundraising idea, please contact one of us. Also, please share this page with as many people as you can! The more it is shared, the more help we can get Allyson and Trevor. I will assure you anything you are able to donate is greatly appreciated.
Below you will find links to Allyson's blog and Oasis of Hope. Allyson has candidly shared her journey on her blog, and I urge you to read it.
