My name is Seraj, and I’m a Palestinian father from Gaza. Today, with a heart full of fear and sorrow, I share with you the story of my son Yazan — a child who came into this world in a moment unlike any other… born under airstrikes, surrounded by destruction, in one of the harshest conditions humanity has known.

On March 1, 2024, in the city of Rafah, my wife Yosra was crying out in pain, about to give birth, while the sky above was raining missiles. There were no hospitals we could reach, no electricity, no doctors, no water — not even a way to get help. Yazan was born in the darkness of war, inside our partially destroyed home, by the light of a candle. I had to assist with the birth myself, with trembling hands and a heart screaming with fear and love.

Today, Yazan is 1 year and 3 months old, but he has never known safety. His earliest days were filled with hunger, cold, the sound of bombs, and no access to proper nutrition or healthcare. He has never received his basic vaccinations. Even infant formula is nearly impossible to find — and when we do, it's a miracle.

Yosra, my wife, is only 26 years old. Her only dream is for our son to live a normal life. As for me, all I want is to see him grow up in peace — not in fear.
