“From the distance, I will see your way on to the summits. Do not abandon them. You were born for them and they were born for you”

Dear Friends and Family,

In February of 2020 I will attempt to summit the highest point in the African continent,  Mount Kilimanjaro, “The Roof of Africa”
At 19,340 ft (5,895 m), the Kilimanjaro summit is called Peak Uhuru, which in Swahili means “Freedom”

EDUCATION IS FREEDOM
Education is a human right and it’s the most powerful tool to fight poverty, inequality and social exclusion.

STUDENTS ARE FAINTING FROM HUNGER IN VENEZUELA’S SCHOOLS

Facts:

+1Million children no longer attend school due to hunger and a lack of public services.

87% of Venezuelans have difficulty purchasing food. 50% of 6th graders go to bed hungry.

37% of Fe y Alegria* students eat only 1-2 meals per day.

87% of students said they would be more likely to go to school if there was food offered.

Many schools are shuttering as children and teachers abandon classrooms to scratch out a living on the streets or abroad.

Venezuela children are staying home because many schools have stopped providing meals.
