UPDATE3:
We've fortunately got a friend who's going to be giving us a place to stay, but hair removal costs have been something like $8000 so far this year. I hate asking during the middle of COVID, but so far we haven't been canceled on, so.. here we are still I guess??
It's really hard to not feel so burnt out with all of this and the worry that things are going to get disrupted. Travel costs are all refundable at least right now, but it's been a lot.

Gosh this is late! We have surgery dates for early July and everything is going on schedule, but hair removal for preparation is over $100/hour and we both still need several more hours to be ready.
Anything you can spare helps -- we still have travel and the actual out of pocket expenses as well, and it's been a bit tighter with Elle having lost her job recently. We'll be staying in New York for most of July and part of August, assuming no complications that keep us there for longer.

So I had more typed up here, and lost it because of some difficulties with the Gofundme website, so... argh. Consults happened! We have potential for surgery dates next year.
The biggest problem that we're running into now is despite hitting our deductible, we were hit with approximately $1500 in bills of uncovered expenses thanks to "consult" apparently not being a covered form of medical appointment. I do not understand the insurance industry.
On top of that, we'll still have a lot of expenses for surgery itself--so I've changed the total to reflect a rough estimate. We do have some savings that will be going towards all of this, but every bit helps and I'm not honestly sure that they're enough to not go into debt for the next 2 decades.
Any donations will immediately go to paying down those medical bills, then into preparation expenses (hair removal primarily), and then into savings for deductibles/flights/medical bill caps/living expenses out of state during immediate post-surgery recovery.
I really can't thank everyone who donated already enough and I'm really hoping that we can make this happen.

So, after a lot of attempting and communications with surgeons, Elle and I finally have consult dates for SRS! We're going to Mt Sinai in early June.
We've got enough to cover the deductible hit for the consults, but with a number of other recent health issues that have been going on, covering the actual travel itself is going to be a bit of a risk.
This money would be entirely for helping cover flights/hotels/pet boarding/food to make this trip possible so that we can both finally get onto the waitlist for surgery itself.
