In Loving Memory of Wesley Williams
It is with broken hearts that we share the devastating news that Wesley Williams has tragically died at just 25 years old, after being struck by a vehicle whilst walking along a country lane in Lichfield on the 12th August 2025.
Wesley was a loving son, a cherished brother, a devoted partner, and a loyal friend to so many. He loved God, had a passion for travelling, exploring nature and embraced life with warmth and kindness. His future was full of plans, hopes, and dreams, all heartbreakingly cut short far too soon after he went hiking to watch the sunset with his best friend and their younger siblings. Wesley was an extraordinary young man, who touched the hearts of so many people and his loss has shaken our family and community very deeply.
Wesley was a man of God who held a strong faith and we know his wishes were to be buried. We want to honour his beliefs and give him the burial and last rites he deserves. This means we need to raise funds to ensure he is laid to rest properly, in line with his faith.
His mother is utterly heartbroken, and the pain of his loss will never truly leave those who knew him. While nothing can take away the grief we are all feeling, we believe that as a community we can come together to help lift the financial burden from his family at this unimaginably difficult time. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will go directly towards giving Wesley the beautiful farewell he so truly deserves as well as supporting his loved ones as they try to navigate life without him.
Thank you in advance for your kindness, your prayers, and your generosity in helping us honour Wesley’s memory.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Dear friends, family, and kind supporters,
First, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. The response to Wesley’s GoFundMe has been overwhelming, and as his mother I am so grateful for every prayer, every kind word, and every donation. The original target of £12,000 has already been surpassed, reaching over £16,000. This is only possible because of the love and compassion you have shown.
When we first set the goal, the focus was simply on covering the immediate costs of Wesley’s burial and grave. However, as time has gone on, we have realised there are additional expenses we had not anticipated. These include:
• Gravestone and tombstone: around £4,000 to mark Wesley’s resting place properly.
• Unexpected funeral costs: Wesley’s body required extensive reconstruction after the accident, and there have been many background costs we did not foresee.
Because of this, we have raised the target so we can meet these essential costs. Instead of delaying the gravestone for the next 12 months, we hope to cover it now while this campaign continues.
Alongside this, many close to Wesley feel strongly that his legacy must live on. Wesley was a man of faith, compassion, and kindness, whose heart reached across cultures and communities. His light is deeply missed. To honour him, we are laying the foundations for The Wesley Williams Foundation — a way for his love and compassion to continue by supporting disadvantaged people and holding fundraising events across the UK.
As his mother, I want to be open. I am not working at present. Since being signed off with long COVID in 2020, I have given myself fully to voluntary service as a minister of the gospel and as an NSPCC lived story advocate, supporting children and survivors of abuse. This means I had no savings to fall back on when tragedy struck. Wesley’s other parent is not contributing, so the responsibility for all arrangements has fallen to me. Without this community, I could not have given Wesley the dignity he deserves.
Thank you again for standing with us. Your kindness has carried us through the darkest days and is helping to build something beautiful in Wesley’s name.
With love and gratitude,
Reverend Melinda Williams & Family
