My name is Carrie (51)and I am married to one of the greatest, proudest and kindness men I've ever met. His name is Bruce Ducharme (52). I met Bruce 11 years ago. He took me and my daughter in and has shown our daughter so much love and respect. What he has taught her is invaluable. He is my everything. Bruce was in the reserves, and then on full active duty military. He is a Desert Storm Veteran. He was deployed to Iraq during Desert Storm and was injured by IED explosion twice. This has led to a severe back injury. He had back surgery in '93 to correct issues and relieve pain so he could get back into the workforce. Fast forward to December 7, 2022. Bruce is in surgery again because they never put a screw in the bone to keep it in place. He could hardly walk before surgery. Recovery time was supposed to be 2 weeks. It's been 5 weeks now and he is in excruciating pain and can barely walk once again. The doctor believes it may be a blood clot. Furthermore he said Bruce would need another CT of his back because he fears something may have shifted. Bruce is being a soldier and getting through this but it is taking a toll on him because we can't pay the bills or rent. I work so we're getting something but I don't make the kind of money Bruce makes as a truck driver. We are in fear of losing everything now. His work terminated him after 9 days when they knew he was going into surgery. Yes, my husband can find another job easily since he has 4 million miles under his belt accident free and ticket free. But he has to be given a release from his doctor first. At this time it looks as though he could be off work for another month or more. It’s incredibly hard to ask for help but we have ran out of options. The money would help pay bills (medical / house).
