Dear Fellow FDU Football Alumni - First of all, we’d like to send a big thank you for sending in your contact information and expressing your support for the formation of the Alumni Association. We continue to lay the groundwork for the organization and will have additional information coming your way for get togethers during this season and beyond, but first and foremost there are some immediate needs that we can help address for this season. As you may or may not be aware, the budget allocated to each sports team at FDU doesn’t cover everything that needs to be done to run a successful program at the DIII level. The additional funds needed are handled through donations and external support. Therefore, the establishment of strong network of alumni and donors can supplement the program to help promote success. We have identified 3 immediate needs for the upcoming season and are reaching out to you for support.
1.) The Alumni Association will be hosting a pizza party toward the end of camp. The date will be 8/17 after the team returns from a joint practice/scrimmage with Kean. Any are welcome to attend. With that said, alumni are invited to come out at any time and watch the 2021 Devils as they prepare for the season. Fundraising goal of $1500 to cover pizza and drinks for players, coaches, alumni, etc.
2.) Coach Robertson has secured 2 JV games this season. This is a great opportunity for underclassmen and those not ready for primtime to gain game experience and continue to develop, so that when they are called upon they are ready to go. FDU will cover the buses to/from games, but food/drink and other travel expenses need to be covered by fundraising. Fundraising goal off $2000 ($1k/game) to cover travel and expenses.
3.) On-Field Equipment - Rogers Athletic Mobility Chute (https://www.rogersathletic.com/10-x-20-mobility-chute/). This is the #1 piece of field equipment for linemen. Total cost of Chute is $2500.
Total for all 3 items comes to $6000. Anything additional will go toward the cost of the Homecoming event on 9/25.
As just mentioned, we will be planning an alumni event at the 9/25 Homecoming game versus Misercordia. More to come on this as the date gets closer, but please put it on your calendar.
