Support Leticia's Stroke Recovery Journey

My mom, Ellen, has a degenerative neurological disease that has impacted her ability to walk, talk, or function independently. Ellen’s disease has advanced rapidly, and she receives home hospice care. The end is rapidly approaching and one of the lone silver linings in this process has been the AMAZING care that my mom has received from her 24/7 aide, Leticia, who loves and cares for my mom as if she were her own parent. My entire family deeply loves Leticia for everything that she has done for my mom and our family.
Two weeks ago, Leticia had a massive stroke and is paralyzed on her left side. Her language is still intact, but she is deeply slurring her words and will need intensive PT, OT, and speech therapy to get anywhere close to "normal." She doesn't have insurance and she only recently qualified for Medicaid, which won't cover inpatient rehab. Leticia is also a single mother who supports two beautiful children who live in Ghana.
Leticia has no family here and cannot drive due to her impairments, so outpatient PT is not possible. Inpatient rehabilitation costs $625 per day out-of-pocket, and we are looking to raise $13,000 to pay for three weeks of services. While this won't cover the entirety of rehab, the subsequent services that Leticia will require, or the loss of income, it will certainly help a lot. Her stroke was caused by a rare genetic abnormality in her carotid artery, so she will be susceptible to subsequent strokes.
All of this money will go to Leticia in her recovery. She is truly selfless and deserves the opportunity to get back on her feet.
