Many of you know my sister, Angela, also known as "Momma D". as the Communities in Schools Resource Coordinator at Monterey High School in Lubbock, Texas. If you know Angela, you know she has a heart of gold, her love and care reach not only the students across the Lubbock area but also her family and friends.

In September 2024, Angela was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a long, almost two-month process of confusing diagnoses from UMC, Angela and her family made the decision to move her care to Covenant Joe Arrington Cancer Center, where she has received the support and reassurance she needs to move forward with her treatment. Angela is scheduled to undergo her first surgery on December 17, 2024 in Fort Worth Texas, followed by chemo and radiation treatment and another surgery for bi-lateral mastectomy and reconstruction by next fall.

However, while attending her pre-op appointments in Fort Worth last month, Angela’s husband, daughter, and cousin were involved in a car accident, which will likely total their vehicle. This is another setback in a series of difficult challenges Angela and her family have faced in recent months. But if there’s one thing we all know about "Momma D," it's that with her faith and determination, she will overcome any battle life throws her way.

Unfortunately, as we all know, medical care and insurance bring their own challenges—co-pays, deductibles, and travel expenses. No one is truly prepared for the financial burden that comes with a cancer diagnosis, and the Deshone family needs our help. Angela has an army of supporters, both spiritually and emotionally, and now we’re asking for your financial support as she faces this fight.

We are raising funds to help cover Angela’s $7,000 yearly deductible for 2024 and
