Support For Charlotte
Charlotte has Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct) Cancer Stage 3; Please Read Our Story.

My name is Neal, and my wife Charlotte started having issues in November of 2020. A little about us we have been married 32 years and I am a 9-year US Army Desert Storm Veteran. We have a daughter that is 30 years old. We have never asked for help in the past and were hesitant to ask this time but several folks told us we needed to. We do give back to the community and volunteer for several organizations.

In November of 2020 my wife kept telling her doctor she didn’t feel well and the Doctor told her she can't run test willy nilly . After three years of battling with doctors, she was diagnosed with Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Migraines, and severe Bursitis of the hips. The doctor told her she was depressed in March of 2021. A doctor finally listened and ran tests to find she had Hypercalcemia, which is too much calcium in the blood and sent her to Endocrinologist. In May, we went in to see her, and she scheduled a bone scan for August. On August 22, my wife was in such pain that on the 23rd, I told her if you’re not better when I get home from work, we will go to Urgent Care. Urgent care did an ultrasound and said she had lesions on her liver and recommended we go to the ER. They did a CT scan and found, in fact, a large mass on the top of her liver across both lobes, and she was admitted. After many tests and a biopsy, the oncologist advised us that my wife had cancer and needed a PET Scan. After the PET Scan, we were informed she had Cholangiocarcinoma Stage 3 metastasized, and the mass was 11cm and had two smaller masses on each lobe of the liver; she would need to start Chemo right away.

I In the meantime, I had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, so we are trying to accept my diagnosis along with hers. In September, my wife had a Port put in and started Chemo. Charlotte and I did not want this diagnosis; we are fighting with all we have. In December, after three months of chemo, her oncologist did a CT scan, and the results were not what we hoped for; however, the mass has neither grown nor shrunk in size but is stable. She recommended starting with a treatment called Y90, which is direct radiation to the liver. Charlotte has been very positive and strong at this point and remains that way. On January 31, 2022 she went in to have the Y90 mapping done; on February 21, she had the first treatment. After treatment, she has been in a lot more excruciating pain. We don’t know how long she has, but we want her to live comfortably, and we don’t like asking for help, but with all the medical treatments, pain medicine, and me not being able to work consistently, we need your help. Please share this story and put us in your prayers if you cannot give. We understand. She is my world.
