Last November, my mom - Liz - was diagnosed with stomach cancer. The cancer was at stage III. 

It's been a little over a year now and she has battled every step of the way with courage. She has chosen to do a combination of traditional and alternative therapies to heal and hopefully reverse the cancer. Intense nutritional therapy, chinese medicine, an advanced therapy wellness program in Arizona, chemotherapy and radiation. As a result of this whole body approach to heal and detoxify the body, the cancer is currently stable at stage III.

The last year has been full of ups and downs, hope and heartbreak, and lots of uncertainty. For anyone involved in cancer, whether a patient or caregiver, you know the exhausting, devastating battle this can be. Fuck cancer.

My mom is the most selfless, compassionate woman. She is strong and wonderful. Full of love. She is a mother, a sister, a health coach, a nurse, and a new grandmother. I cherish the love she has for me, my brother, her partner. I know she cherishes the love we have for her. 

I feel strong and confident that her body will heal.

That being said, her insurance covers ZERO percent of any alternative/holistic treatment plan. My mom has not been able to work since her diagnoses, so this has been a big challenge.
