HELP MICAH

Donation protected

Sarah and Matthew’s precious son, Micah, is in desperate need of prayer…
And his family is in need of our love and help.

Monday, September 12th, Micah was admitted into the hospital with a double ear infection, double pneumonia, and a plural effusion (fluid on his lungs).

Tuesday, September 13th 3:17am:
Micah was sent to UTMB Galveston for lung emergency surgery, as his right lung collapsed.

Shortly after surgery, Micah’s kidneys started failing and he was diagnosed with IGA Neuropathy.

Unfortunately, both Texas Children’s and Memorial Herman were FULL……

While doctors raced against the clock to find a hospital for Micah, he suffered a seizure.

He was eventually airlifted to Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin.

———————————————————Matthew (Dad) shares the following:
Brought him in for shallow breathing and cough about 5 days ago...

Was diagnosed w
-double ear infection
-Double pneumonia in right lung

Since then…

-Collapsed right lung
-Kindney failure
-Sepsis
-Vats procedure (to open him up and drain out his lungs)
-Two blood transfusions
-Just had to get platelets as well so he doesn’t bleed out when they do this operation at 8am

LATEST UPDATE:
Micah is now on dialysis…
His kidneys have failed.
He has a collapsed right lung that still has lots of fluid in it.

As for the dialysis…
He will stay on it indefinitely for now.
We are trying to figure out how to do this moving forward....
This may be up to a 6 week deal they said...
Hopefully he recovers sooner than that.... but they said to prepare for that.
They have to let this machine do the kidney functions, they will start giving him nutrients via the feeding tube, because he has not had any food in like five days.
Continue draining his lungs from the chest tube and all the fluid.
Hopefully once all the fluid is drained…his lung will start inflating again, and hopefully after pushing a bunch of nutrients into him for a few days...his body will get stronger.

Once his body gets stronger ...they will switch the dialysis machine from the one that is constantly on to the one that is intermittent, and hopefully sometime in the next week or two they can take him off for a little bit and see if his kidneys can work on their own.

They will then switch to the intermittent dialysis machine once his body is strong enough.

The doctors said that it takes some kids 6 to 8 weeks, and it takes some kids 3 or 4 weeks to regain kindney function.... everything is relative.

His situation is a bit more complicated because his lung has collapsed, so there's a lot of give-and-take on what they can and cannot do right now.
