Tony Cook is an amazing 13 year old boy who has been battling neurofibromatosis(NF) since shortly after birth. Children with NF are at risk for developing a rare cancer called peripheral nerve sheath tumor. They are dangerous sarcomas that are poorly responsive to treatment and can return after they are removed. Tony was recently found to have a peripheral nerve sheath tumor that is growing aggressively in his abdomen and has started chemotherapy. He will likely need to have surgery next. The chemo wipes him out but he is resilient and ready for the fight.
His parents have been taking him to the National Institute of Health in Washington and are now looking to find the best surgeon to treat this. There are very few in the country.
I want to help fund my sister and her husband so that they can devote their time and energy into making Tony's life the best that they can, while also giving them time to get him to the best doctors this country has to offer.
These funds will provide travel expenses, hotels, subsidy for missing work, medical bill relief and ultimately(we hope) the opportunity to find doctors who can help us beat this cancer!
Please help them give Tony the support he needs. This is a tough one to beat so we have to give him the best chance possible!
