Aloha, I am Kalei (Donna) Chu’s boss and school principal. Kalei is Mike’s wife. With permission of Kalei, our school community has created a GoFundMe to offset costs of Mike's funeral. On December 6, 2022, Mike passed away as the result of injuries sustained from an attack at Windward City Shopping Center, where he was a security guard. Mike was a former teacher and principal, as well as a founding member of the local Kailua basketball league and a referee. Many patrons and business owners of the shopping center, as well as former students and community members, speak of the difference he made in their lives. The school community is raising funds for his wife to offset the costs of a funeral and to help Kalei as she was planning to retire at the end of the school year. Mike was also the father of a son and daughter, and was expecting his first grandchild this month. Kalei (Donna) is an amazing teacher in the community who gives back so much, too.
