Hi, my name is Andrew Ruscoe, and I am the chairman of the non for profit organisation community club FC United of Wrexham. FC United of Wrexham is a Futsal and Football club that operates in the Wrexham region.
FC United of Wrexham was founded in 2020, and we have a long-term vision of reaching the UEFA Futsal Champions League and the 2nd tier of Welsh football. We currently support men, children and women in the sports of Futsal and Football on a weekly basis.
As the club is a Futsal club, and we reside in an area of deprivation, we always experience constant outgoings, which can result in costs as high as £500 a month whereas a football club may experience less costs in a given period of time we do not share that similiar breathing space. We have recently spoken to Sport Wales, and they will only fund coach education and not support any ongoing projects unless we set up new teams, which has led us to reach out to the world for support so that we can continue our vision which we hope will eventually lead us to become self-sustainable in the future.
The club currently supports people with mental health, learning needs, and employability support needs and continues to tackle sedentary lifestyles which can lead to things like diabetes, heart attacks and strokes. Tackling sedentary lifestyles can help to take strains off the NHS via physical activity.
We believe with our long-term goals, we can support people on the ground levels of sport to experience better and positive lives with life-changing opportunities such as potentially reaching the UEFA Futsal Champions league, but we can't do this alone.
With a whopping £14,072 a year to operate the club, we need all the support we can get because, unfortunately, due to rises in the cost of living, continuous price rises in hall fee's and supporting young people and parents who can't always pay their fee's, we need the support so that we do not have to stop all our activities which would impact the people who play and who are connected to the club. This would now leave a hole in the community and stop the growth of the club and Futsal.
Furthermore in August 2023 we lost our main club sponsor which has put the club in jeopardy of survival so we need all the support we can get to continue.
To date the club has achieved the following progressions which we would like to continue adding too:
⚽️ Female players signed with Welsh Premier League sides
⚽️ Supported Three adult players reached Semi Professional clubs.
⚽️ Supported a youth player earned trials at Everton.
⚽️ Helped Four youth players gained trials & joined Wrexham AFC Academy.
⚽️ Helped Two youth players joined Welsh Academy sides like Airbus Academy.
⚽️Helped A player earned trials with Manchester City.
⚽️ Helped 5 coaches obtained recognized coaching qualifications.
⚽️ Helped to raise £11,000 for Oncology equipment at the #Wrexham Children’s Ward.
⚽️ Supported Welsh Blood services to save lives through blood donations.
⚽️ Featured on ESPN and Men In Blazers
We do understand that the figure we are attempting to raise is an extremely high figure and we understand that reaching that figure will be unachievable at the same time, but if we raised 1/4 of this it would help massively. It would not be the end of the world if we did not reach this figure as will look for other strategies to raise important funds.
Our Donations page simply aims to offer people we connect with the opportunity to donate to FC United of Wrexham, if they would like to do so, as it gives us a chance to continue the hard work we do to engage the community and the people we support in the sports of Futsal and Football.
If we ever made it to the top we would give all those who have supported us free season tickets but we can only dream......
Thank you for taking the time to read this :)
