Hi, this is the family and we’re raising funds to help cover cremation and memorial expenses for my brother, Joseph Ivory Kennedy.

Joseph was the second oldest sibling and the oldest brother in our family. He was taken from us far too soon, and our loss is beyond words. Joseph was the smartest, most generous, and loving person I knew — a man who led with kindness, integrity, and compassion.

Joseph was also a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, and he lived his life authentically, with courage and love. In the wake of his death, our family has been left devastated not only by the loss itself, but by the circumstances surrounding it. The individual responsible was released due to a lack of information, leaving us feeling unheard, unseen, and deeply wounded.

To us, this violence feels hateful in nature — as though Joseph was targeted for who he was. It feels as though his life is being treated as disposable, reduced to a statistic, rather than honored as the meaningful, beautiful life it truly was. The lack of accountability has added another layer of pain to an already unbearable loss.

As we grieve, we are also facing unexpected expenses related to cremation, a memorial service to honor Joseph’s life, and other necessary arrangements. Our goal is to give him the respectful and loving farewell he deserves — one that reflects the depth of who he was and the love he gave so freely.

We trust that God sees all things, even when justice feels absent, and that Joseph’s spirit, truth, and legacy will never be forgotten. We hold onto faith as we navigate this unimaginable pain.
