Caitlin Goes to Camp des Cimes

It is with great excitement and anticipation that I share with you the news that by God's grace, I will be returning to Camp des Cimes in Bourg d'Oisans, France for their English Youth Camp July 10th-24th! I was planning to return to Camp for the 2015 season, but many unfortunate circumstances prevented me from going. Thankfully, my body is healthy once again, and I can return to Camp to serve and grow relationships for Christ!

During the 2014 season, I was able to serve on the American Program Team. I helped to lead a worship workshop for the campers as well as help lead worship two times a day. I got to spend hours of time each day with the campers; I got to hear their stories, their struggles, and share my testimony with them. I have also been able to keep in contact with many of the campers even over this long span of time. Iand others who have served at Camp believe that the relationships that you form while in France must be cultivated even after returning to the States. The Lord has been consistently faithful from the beginning when I first heard about Camp, to now as I prepare to serve Him again.  I cannot deny His placement of me at Camp des Cimes.

France is a dark place spiritually, but there are incredible lights hidden within the darkness. Only 4% of the population claims to be Christian and the choice to follow Christ is met with great skepticism. For many Christian youth, this camp serves as the only place they are not ridiculed or judged for being Christians. For non-Christians, the camp is a safe place for them to ask questions and start conversations. Year after year, kids say that even though they aren't Christians, they love the ambience or "feel" of the camp. It is, of course, our hope that multiple visits will open them to asking more questions about Christ and eventually (in their own time) committing to a relationship with Him.

This trip is a huge undertaking that I cannot accomplish alone, so I would like to share with you a few of my needs and give you an opportunity to participate with me. My first need is for prayer. I am asking family, friends, and supporters to remember us before the Father as I prepare for this trip. Pray that I can raise adequate funds, that I would be able to influence lives in France in Christ's name, and that my heart would be receptive to the lessons that God has in store for me there.

My second need is finances. I will need to raise around $2,700. This amount will cover the cost of a round trip flight, the cost of camp boarding, and other travel expenses (train, insurance, etc.) As you can imagine, international travel is expensive, and I will be in France during the peak summer tourist season. I will also need to raise the bulk of these funds as soon as possible, as plane tickets only go up in price as time goes on. I believe that my time in July will be a valuable and worthy assistance to the Kingdom's cause in France. Would you consider making an investment in me and in the campers for the sake of the benefits that we will see at the camp?

Thank you so much for your consideration!

With much love,

Caitlin

Our Workshop Presentation

April and me on our first day at Camp before the campers arrived.

Our awesome and goofy worship workshop group!

Waiting for the Tour de France to pass by.

A teaching/jam session with some of our workshop campers.

Resting on the side of a mountain during our Alpine hike.

Beautiful old churches and crosses dotted our path.

Resting after the first day of our hike.

What better way to worship God than to do it on the side of a mountain?
