150 mile hike for St Andrews and Andys man club

Donation protected
My name is Simon and along with my brother from another mother, Adam are completing a 150 mile hike /wild camp of the Viking Way. The trail spans across Lincolnshire; starting from the Humber Bridge to Oakham. We will be carrying everything we need along the way (Approx 40lbs each) and will complete this in August 2023. We will be leaving the page active until a month after to try and raise as much support and donations as possible!

We are raising money to support two amazing charities who have supported our loved ones in their darkest moments.

As some of you may know, almost two years ago I lost my brother (In- law), Anthony Kyme (way before his time!) to cancer. I had the honour of being considered a friend and a brother. His loss affected everyone who met him! He was loved by all who knew him, he was generous to a fault! He battled hard to the very end and was cared for in his final days by the fantastic team at St Andrews Hospice in Grimsby, who looked after him as if he was their own family during his toughest days. Nothing was too much and they never expected a thing in return.

Going through such a loss, left an unfillable void in the lives of everyone who knew him. Particularly I who battled each day to get up and out of bed, struggling to see the point of it all. Men often suffer quietly, believing they are supposed to be the glue that holds things together. But, we all need help from time to time.
It's clear that without the support of mens mental health charities like Andy's Man Club it's very likely I'd be in a much worse state of mind than I am today. Both Adam and I realise that some aren't as lucky to have access too or even know about the help these amazing organisations provide. We hope to highlight their work and attempt to help them in anyway we can by raising money, supporting their cause and documenting our journey to share with you along the way.

Without these charities doing what they do, many others wouldn't have the support Ant and our family had during those dark hours. We want to ensure that other families who are going through the same are able to access the support they need from these fantastic charities by providing them with much needed funds. To this end we want to raise some money for St Andrews Hospice and Andys Man Club to enable them to continue to support others in the way only they can! We have set our expectations low, knowing that times are difficult but aim to raise as much money as possible.

We appreciate your support and kindness at such a finacially difficult time. Any help, donations and shares will be greatly appreciated. Donations will be split equally between the two charities.

Feel free to share this far and wide and thank you for taking the time to read this.
